Open up the image in Photoshop from the "file menu". You can also press "Command+O" from your keyboard.

Step #2

Now Select Background and then the small icon beside the delete button as you can see on the screen.

Step #3

Now, you will have options of Layer 1, Layer 2 and Background coming up.

Step #4

Go to the Photoshop toolbar on the left and click on the third last icon. The Color Picker will pop up.

Step #5

Choose your color and the third last icon will turn into the same shade. This is your Layer 2 color. In the image, we have chosen it as Black.

Step #6

Now, deselect the Background option and then click on Layer 1 and then the image to enlarge it.

Step #7

Now go to the Photoshop tool and choose the Background Eraser button.

Step #8

Go to Tolerance and select the percentage you need. Move to the picture now and select parameters like Diameter and Spacing.

Step #9

Select a portion of the screen, which you want to remove. Here, we have selected the blank image background outside the baby’s cradle, as we want to remove it.

Step #10

After selecting all the portions, go to the Eraser button on the toolbar again and select Eraser tool.

Step #11

This will open up a toolbox for you. Select the type of effect you need.

Step #12

You will see a Flow percentage above. Go and increase it as otherwise the Eraser might work slowly.

Step #13

Now, this is the difficult part. Check that you have selected only the portions you need and deleted everything else by going to all portions of the image. Here, we have made doubly sure that there is nothing except the baby, the cradle and the straws. You can do this with your eraser button, and enlarge or size it down as needed.

Step #14

Now, use the zoom tool to magnify down the image and see it in full.

Step #15

Go to Layer 2 and Select the Color Picker tool again like before from the Photoshop toolbar. Choose the color you need and select Ok. We have selected green, so you will find the background turning green. By changing the color from Color picker, you can change the background color easily.

That’s it. You’ve successfully masked your image!
